Soybeans,
Bones and Osteoporosis
Eat
your way out of Osteoporosis?
"A
soybean-rich diet was shown to reduce the incidence of
osteoporosis...its effect on bone metabolism was ascribed to the action
of 'soybean ingredient genistein against osteoporosis.]...
"A
clear pattern of genistein-induced osteoblast 'bone building] activation
therefore emerges 'from our research,] in which all of the essential
components required for the rapid production of 'bones] are stimulated
by this soybean isoflavone 'genistein."
From: Journal of Nutrition, May, 2006. By: Drs. Thorpe, Morris, Abrosio
& Santin, Inst. Biomedical Composite Materials, CNR, 80130 Naples,
Italy.
NOTE: We have found that the best way to have soybeans is to buy them
frozen and uncooked and throw them in the pot that you are cooking rice
in. When the rice is done, the soybeans are done.
