Back Pain--Conventional or Acupuncture Alternative Medicine

In trial of 1126 patients aged 18-86 with a "history of chronic low back pain with a mean of 8 years" German orthopedists concluded, "Effectiveness of acupuncture...was almost twice the of conventional therapy."

The "conventional therapy" was a combination of "drugs, physical therapy, and exercise" vs. alternative medicine via acupuncture.

At six months, the response rate for those receiving acupuncture alternative treatment was 47.6% vs. 27.4% for those treated conventionally.
