Macular degeneration is a scourge injuring your eyes and potentially causing blindness. Can we use Alternative Medicine, that is, a natural, food-based diet to reduce the risk?

"CONCLUSIONS: We find that consuming diets that provide [low glycemic rate, that is, low in carbohydrates] and higher intakes of vitamins C and E [*}, and higher intakes of [zinc, lutein**/zeaxanthin, omega 2 fish oils,] were associated with the greatest reduction in risk for [obstructions,] and advanced AMD [age-related macular degeneration,] whereas dietary beta-carotene did not affect these relationships..."
*Editor's note:One can overdose on C and E. Safer to use 100 mg. C and 100 IU E, taken three times a day with the fish oils.
**Best source of lutein is cooked spinach. Zeaxanthn is obtained from pills
sold by Swanson Vitamins and by Puritan Pride. Or from a local health food
store at somewhat higher prices.
