Osteoporosis Drug and Risk of Irregular Heartbeat--Women Beware
"A recent...trial with [alendronate]* in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis reported a higher risk of serious [irregular heart beat] in alendronate recipients than in placebo recipients...
The study was conducted with 719 woman with irregular heartbeat (IR) and 966 women without IR.
"Conclusion: Ever use of alendronate was associated with an increased risk of [irregular heartbeat]..."
Emphasis added.
*trade mark. Zolendronic Acid is its chemical name.
Editor's note: The words used in the report are Atrial Fibrillation, the medical term for irregular heartbeat. Irregular heartbeat is a dangerous condition. So why get it? All drugs have side effects, many of which are serious and require additional drugs for the resultant illness. One would think that Alternative health and alternative medicine, scientifically based, might be an alternative approach.
