Fish Oils Against Diabetes

"'Large studies of] populations consuming high levels of 'omega3 fats] have relatively low incidences of Type 2 diabetes whereas those with diets low in 'omega 3 fats] have a higher incidence," begins a report* revealing that the DHA portion of these fats may "improve insulin sensitivity," which would  be highly beneficial to diabetes patients. DHA is one of the two principal fats along with EPA in fish oils.

*By Drs. Denkins, Lovejoy & Smith, Pennington Biomedical Research Inst., 6400 Perkins Rd., Baton Rouge, LA 70808, reported at the Annual Meeting of FASEB, an umbrella organization of professional research scientists, April 20-24, 2002.
