"Data from a series of...studies, conducted in Italy and Switzerland...have been

analyzed to evaluate the role of n-3 fatty acids 'found in fish] intake in the 'development] of cancer of oral cavity and pharynx, large bowel, breast, and ovary...

"The...odds ratio (OR) for the highest intake of n-3 'fats] compared to the lowest one were 0.5 '50% reduced risk] for oral and pharyngeal cancer 'and for] esophageal, 0.7 '30% reduced risk] for colon cancer,  0.8 for rectal and breast cancer '20% reduced risk, and 0.6 '40% reduced risk] for ovarian cancer."

Risks were greater as consumption of fish oils went down.

In: Int. Journal of Cancer, vol. 105, 2003. By: Tavani, Pelucchi, Parpinel, La Vecchia et al., Inst. De Ricerche Famacologiche, Milan, Italy; Centro di Referimento Oncologico, Aviano, Italy, Int. Agency for Res. on Cancer, Lyon Dedex, France, Inst. de Medicine sociale et preventive, Lausanne, Switz., U. degli Studi di Milano, Milan.

DETAILS: Fish richest in n-3 oils include Wild (not farm-fed) Salmon, Herring, Mackerel, Albacore Tuna. One can also obtain capsules, each generally with one gram of oil. These are usually made from Menhaden fish. It would be advisable to take vitamins E and C (both low dosage) each time one takes fish oil capsules to reduce oxidation.
